Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing and the Scientific Committees, it is my great pleasure and honor to announce the 25th European Conference on Fracture (ECF25).

ECF25 is organized by the Greek Society of Experimental Mechanics of Materials (GSEMM) and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), under the auspices of the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS).
This prestigious event will take place in Athens, Greece, the heart of one of the most historic and inspiring cities in the world, from 06 to 11 September 2026.

ECF25 continues the legacy of excellence established by the ECF series, which has been a cornerstone of the fatigue and fracture community since its inception in 1976. Over the years, it has become one of the premier global forums for researchers and engineers working in the fields of structural integrity, fatigue, and fracture mechanics. It is expected that ECF25 will attract hundreds of participants from Academia, Research Institutions, and Industry, reflecting its status as a major platform for scientific exchange and collaboration.

Scientific Program Highlights
The ECF25 program is designed to provide cutting-edge insights into the latest developments and innovations in the field. The Conference will feature:
Plenary Lectures delivered by internationally renowned experts, highlighting groundbreaking research and future directions.
Parallel Technical Sessions covering a wide spectrum of topics, including experimental, analytical, and numerical approaches to fatigue and fracture mechanics, structural integrity assessment, multi-scale and multi-physics modelling, and environmental effects on materials.
Special Focus Symposia on emerging areas such as additive manufacturing, advanced composite materials, and the role of artificial intelligence in fracture mechanics.
Poster Sessions, offering an interactive platform for young researchers to showcase their work and engage with leading experts.
Industry Panel Discussions, providing insights into real-world applications and the challenges faced by various sectors, from aerospace and automotive to energy and infrastructure.
ESIS Summer School, a two-day intensive program preceding the conference, designed to equip participants with advanced knowledge in fatigue and fracture modelling and analysis, taught by leading figures in the field.

Why Athens?
Athens, often referred to as the cradle of Western civilization, is a city where ancient history meets modern innovation. As you delve into the technical program, you will also have the chance to explore Athens’ unique blend of historic landmarks, vibrant neighborhoods, and world-class cultural experiences.
Historical and Cultural Treasures: Discover the iconic Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the magnificent Parthenon, as well as countless museums and archaeological sites.
Culinary Delights: Enjoy the renowned Greek cuisine, from traditional tavernas serving fresh seafood and local delicacies to Michelin-starred restaurants offering a modern twist on Mediterranean flavors.
Vibrant Atmosphere: Stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, explore the bustling Monastiraki markets, or relax by the Athens Riviera with its stunning beaches and sunset views. Day trips to picturesque islands near Athens are always a good idea.

A Platform for Collaboration
ECF25 is not just a conference, it is an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and forge collaborations that will shape the future of fatigue and fracture mechanics. With a dynamic program, opportunities for meaningful interactions, and the unparalleled setting of Athens, ECF25 promises to be an unforgettable experience for all participants.

We look forward to welcoming you to Athens in 2026. Join us to contribute to this exciting scientific dialogue, experience the rich culture of Greece, and be part of the enduring legacy of the European Conference on Fracture.

Warm regards,
ECF25 Conference Chair
